I am writing to tell you the impact that TCM and Dr. Zhuo have had on me. I came to Dr. Zhuo originally for infertility problems. My husband and I had tried for two years to get pregnant with no results. We even tried artificial insemination. I had had some prior surgery and perhaps some scarring, but with herbs and acupuncture I was able to conceive my daughter. A few years later we thought we would like to try again. By taking herbs and having acupuncture regularly, we got pregnant twice in one year, but both pregnancies unfortunately ended in a miscarriage. A year went by and we decided to start trying again. Well, we hit the jackpot with TWINS! No outside help either! JUST acupuncture and Chinese herbs.

My first experience with Dr. Zhuo was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders. For the first time in a long time, I was given time to explain how I was feeling.  Sarah is a 36-year-old woman with a history of fertility issues related to the blockage of both of her fallopian tubes. At the time we met, she had a two-year-old son through previous IVF and was hoping to get pregnant again. After a recent IVF retrieval had been cancelled due an insufficient number of mature follicles, Sarah was referred to me by her reproductive specialist. We provided Sarah with 3-4 months of preconception care before she restarted her IVF treatments. Unfortunately, Sarah’s next two cycles of IVF resulted in poor outcomes as well, and she remained unable to get pregnant. Nevertheless, Sarah did not give up hope and continued her acupuncture treatments and herbal therapy regularly. One year passed before Sarah started her fourth cycle of IVF – and this time she had many mature follicles! Shari is a 36-year-old woman with a diagnosis of secondary amenorrhea following discontinuation of oral contraceptives (was on OCT for 20 years). When she and her husband felt ready to start a family, she stopped taking her oral contraceptives. After 3-4 months past without the return of her menstrual cycle even while taking medication to induce menses, Shari began to see a specialist. Shari’s specialist performed many tests and procedures and together they discussed her treatment options, which included IVF.
When Shari came to me, she was back on oral contraceptives in preparation for IVF, though she admitted to feeling like she was healthy enough to get pregnant on her own. After the initial evaluation, I recommended that she postpone IVF for a few months to first rebalance her body and hormones with acupuncture and herbs. I was married for over three years and had tried to get pregnant for the past two years without a successful result. That was including a miscarriage I had in early 2004. A little over a year after her daughter was born, Sharon returned to our clinic to receive acupuncture regularly in preparation to conceive again. This time things were not that easy. She had many symptoms of PCOS, though they were not severe enough for a medical diagnosis. After ten months of acupuncture and herbal treatment, Sharon was still unable to conceive naturally. Thank you for the treatment you provided us to help with our infertility. After 5 years of trying to start our family, we were blessed with a triplet pregnancy. Our babies were born at 33 weeks gestation.

Lori came to my clinic after 3 years of back-to-back IVF cycles. She was 29 years old and diagnosed with a male factor of infertility. She went to numerous infertility specialists and clinics and had many tests done, including laproscopy, hystoscopy & endometrial biopsy, on which everything appeared normal. Lori had 3 fresh full IVF, 2 cancelled hyperstimulation cycles, and 2 frozen embryo transfers. She had also had 2 pregnancies, both of which stopped growing at yoke sac with no fetal development.
When Lori came to see me at her first visit, she came fully prepared with her infertility treatment summary sheet. She told me she was taking birth control pills for her scheduled 4th fresh IVF, but she was unsure of the outcome. I reviewed her treatment history of producing too many poor eggs (last cycle with 46 eggs retrieved) and too few good ones (normally fertilized rate lower than 40%) and convinced her to take 3-6 months of acupuncture and herbal treatment before her next IVF. After 4 months of weekly treatment, Lori started her 4th IVF. She continued acupuncture during this IVF cycle. After her egg retrieval, her specialist told her that this had been her best cycle ever. This time her hormone level was normal and more than 50% of the eggs were normally fertilized and she got pregnant!

Dear Dr. Zhuo:
Thank you for helping me avoid a third back surgery. The acupuncture treatments have significantly reduced the back pain and increased the quality of my life.
I have suffered back pain for over 30 years. I have had two surgeries, traction, medications, epidurals, chiropractic care and anything else that I could think of to reduce the pain. The scheduled third surgery was going to be a fusion of three vertebrae and there was a very good chance that my pain would not be reduced at all. I was very reluctant to try acupuncture because of my dislike of needles. So my wife made the appointment for me. The treatments are painless; in fact, I actually get a pretty good sleep every time I go. All of these tiny needles are new so that also took care of another concern.
I have been taking the treatments for almost two years. Due to the severity of my pain, initially I was taking treatments three times a week. That lasted for about a month, and I gradually was able to reduce the treatments to once every three weeks. My goal is go once a month. The most comforting aspect of working with you is your credentials as a Chinese medical doctor who has had extensive training in acupuncture. I was comfortable with the treatments from the first time we meet.
